Great news for United as INEOS “optimistic” of agreeing game-changing deal before summer – report

Sir Jim Ratcliffe was in attendance to see the manager’s flawed system fail yet again this season and a huge call on the Dutchman’s future is coming up in the summer.

But before that, the new co-owner wants to ensure whoever is the manager gets the right backing and hence, he wants to build a proper structure behind the scenes.

Omar Berrada is set to join as CEO from Manchester City while the club are trying to agree a fee with Southampton for Jason Wilcox, who will be the new technical director

Behind-the-scene changes

The biggest problem INEOS have faced so far is with their acquisition of Dan Ashworth, currently Newcastle’s sporting director.

The former FA chief was put on gardening leave after he revealed he wanted to join the Red Devils but the Magpies are insistent on either receiving a £20 million compensation package or holding on to their man till 2025.

Sir Jim is not too happy with the Tyneside outfit who are refusing to budge from their stance.

Recent reports had revealed that United could even be prepared to allow the former Brighton chief to join them after the summer window ends in order to agree a lower compensation amount.

TeamTalk have revealed that both clubs are close to reaching an agreement over the package with INEOS prepared to pay £10 million for their new sporting director. And this will ensure Ashworth joins his new club before the summer window commences.

Ashworth resolution

“Manchester United remain optimistic of appointing Dan Ashworth as the club’s new sporting director before the summer transfer window opens, TEAMtalk understands.
