Harry Kane says striker Manchester United signed for £26m was even better than Sergio Aguero

Harry Kane is undoubtedly one of the great strikers in modern football.

Kane is already among the greatest strikers of all time, having scored over 200 goals in the Premier League, winning the World Cup Golden Boot, and setting other records.

In an interview with Goal, Kane ranked some of the other all-time great attackers and made an intriguing assertion on a former Manchester United player.

In fact, Kane ranked Wayne Rooney second among all-time great strikers, surpassing even Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Sergio Aguero.

Harry Kane ranks Wayne Rooney above Sergio Aguero

Kane spoke about Rooney and where he ranks amongst the greats.

“Aguero?” Kane was asked.

“Three,” Kane said.

“Two,” Kane said.

“Four,” Kane said.

“One,” Kane said.

“Five, I’m pretty happy with that,” Kane concluded.

Wayne Rooney vs Sergio Aguero

There will undoubtedly be disagreements among Premier League supporters over this issue.

It’s difficult to choose between Wayne Rooney and Sergio Aguero as two of the best strikers of all time.

During his Premier League tenure, Aguero scored goals at a higher rate and was awarded the Golden Boot.

Rooney did, however, win a Champions League, and he might have been a better playmaker overall.

Because of his clinical play for Manchester City and his frequent appearances at crucial periods, Sergio Aguero might just win this debate.

Not that Rooney didn’t contribute in the same way to Manchester United, but Aguero took City to a level they had never reached before, whereas Rooney, upon joining United, nearly continued the work of Ruud van Nistelrooy.

All the same, Rooney’s £26 million acquisition from all those years ago has to rank among Manchester United’s best ever purchases.
