“I am clear”: United star currently shining out on loan in Spain says he will return to United for pre-season

Solving the right-wing dilemma was one of the main tasks facing Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag during his second season in England.

The Dutchman and Jadon Sancho had a falling out early in the season when the Dutchman criticized the England international for his subpar training performances.

The former Manchester City academy alumnus took offense and responded with a social media statement, all the while implying that the manager gave Antony special treatment.

Speaking of the Brazilian, off-field controversies hindered his form and with only three goals this season, the former Ajax star is already staring at an early exit from the club who decided to pay a whopping €95 million for his services.

Pellistri’s difficult United stint

The manager from the Netherlands looked to Facundo Pellistri, who has been a constant star for his country. The Uruguayan, nevertheless, always appeared like a raw talent in need of more development when he opened games.

Due to United’s disastrous exits from the Champions League and Carabao Cup, the manager made the decision to loan out a large number of his young players.

Pellistri ultimately moved to Granada, a team in danger of relegation, where he made a big impression by scoring and providing an assist against Barcelona.

The 22-year-old now has two goals and as many assists for his loan squad after scoring in their most recent victory over Osasuna.

Pellistri’s representative has already disclosed that, should Ten Hag continue in his role as manager, Pellistri will ultimately leave, and the club is amenable to that suggestion.

The winger has had interest from both Europe and South America, but he has been told by his parent club that he must return to Manchester for preseason training, the player said in an interview with Sport 890 in Uruguay.

“I talk constantly with Manchester United. After each game we exchange (messages). I’m not sure what I’m going to do after La Liga ends. What I am clear about is that I’m going to have to do the pre-season with Manchester.”

Summer exit likely

The former Penarol star admitted that donning the famed red jersey has been a surreal experience but he needs more minutes moving forward and an exit is likely.

“The whole time I was in Manchester was incredible. The experiences I had, I shared with the best players in the world and I was able to play many important games. Today, I am in a stage of looking for more minutes, I am very happy with the opportunity.

“Although I had minutes at Manchester United, it was not the amount I would like given the football moment I was in. I am very happy for the minutes I played here (in Spain). A player always wants to play. Many times one does not put oneself into the manager’s decisions, who has to think about many more things.”

There is hardly any room for the Uruguay international with Alejandro Garnacho blazing on the right side, Amad Diallo beginning to show his mettle, and Omari Forson on the rise.

Pellistri has struggled to get opportunities since joining the team for €8.50 million in 2020. In just four years, the winger has made just 24 appearances, four of which came from the starting position.

Pellistri’s contract expires in2025, so it’s likely that he will be sold in the forthcoming summer window for a respectable profit.
