“I can confirm” – Fabrizio Romano has just shared latest Man Utd update on Ten Hag’s future

According to sources, Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, may be leaving the team. Italian writer Fabrizio Romano has now given the most recent information on his whereabouts, stating that no decision has been made and the matter is still up in the air.

The FA Cup final at Wembley presented the Red Devils with a chance to turn things around after a dismal season. An entirely earned victory against rivals Manchester City saw United emerge victorious, winning 2-1.

Even with their outstanding performance and outcome, it seems that ten Hag’s employment isn’t assured. Before the game, there were rumours circulating that United had already decided to fire him, although the team has not yet released an official announcement.

Ten Hag’s Situation Remains open at Man Utd

INEOS are yet to make a decision

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, writing in his daily briefing on Sunday morning, has confirmed that INEOS are yet to communicate anything with the Dutch manager. Some of the backroom team have met with the representatives of other managers, but they are yet to decide whether they want to continue with ten Hag…

“But also the reality is that United never communicated anything to Ten Hag – they never informed him of any decision to sack him, there hasn’t been any formal process yet. Behind the scenes at United, there have been some meetings with representatives of some managers who wanted to understand what is the situation with Ten Hag, so although United have started some of the process to find a new coach, they never decided what to do with Ten Hag.

It remains an open situation and let’s see what happens after this special afternoon at Wembley, but at the same time I can confirm that United had conversations with representatives of managers to explore a potential new era without Ten Hag at the club.”

INEOS’s feelings towards ten Hag may have been affected by the significant win over their rivals, but it’s never a good sign for the former Ajax manager that the team is considering other choices. Kieran McKenna is among the candidates the Manchester team seems to have in mind to take ten Hag’s spot at Old Trafford.

Dan Sheldon of The Athletic reports that United has conferred with the agents of McKenna, the manager of Ipswich Town. The 38-year-old, who previously coached Manchester United, left the Red Devils to take a position at Ipswich. The Northern Irish manager has guided the Tractor Boys from League One to the Premier League, a remarkable feat considering his lack of experience.

Erik ten Hag Speaks Out on Future

He admits he doesn’t know what will happen next

After the match, ten Hag was questioned about whether he would be the main man at Old Trafford come 2024–2025. The United manager reiterates that he wants to be involved in this project while acknowledging that he is unsure about whether he will continue to be in charge.

The former Ajax manager also says that the team was a “mess” when he first got to Manchester, giving the impression that he has been able to turn things around. Even if the club’s FA Cup victory was a thrilling occasion, they cannot escape their dismal season.
