“I would be the happiest coach” – Manager opens door for Manchester United man, deal there to be done

After leaving Manchester United this summer, Raphael Varane would be happy to return to Lens, a French team.

That’s according to their manager, Franck Haise, who has made it possible for the defender from Manchester United to rejoin his old team.

Varane made the announcement earlier this week that, with the expiration of his current contract at the end of the season, he would be leaving Manchester United.

His three-year tenure at Old Trafford will come to an end after he originally signed a €40 million contract to join Manchester United from Real Madrid in August 2021.

His time in Madrid, where he was a vital member of teams that won three La Liga crowns, four Champions Leagues, and countless other trophies over his ten years with the club, has been happier than his time in Manchester.

It is unclear where the 31-year-old will go next because he is undoubtedly not ready to retire and has had a number of injury setbacks that have restricted his playing time at Manchester United recently.

The manager of Lens, the team where he began his career, would be more than willing to entertain the idea of him going back there.

“Obviously Raphaël Varane can interest me,” he said.

“By his qualities as a player, by his qualities as a leader, by his human qualities, by everything he represents and by everything he is still capable of giving, I am sure.

“After that the financial aspects don’t just depend on me, but if there was a possibility I would be the happiest coach.”
