Kai Rooney causes a stir as Man Utd teenager tipped to become as good as dad Wayne

Expectant Manchester United supporters have been watching Kai Rooney’s training videos because of his incredible finishing touch. The young football player is predicted to follow in his father’s footsteps and have a prosperous career.

Seven years have passed since Wayne, the team’s all-time leading scorer, left Old Trafford, but United supporters are holding out hope that another Rooney relative may join the Red Devils. Like his father, Kai, who turned 14 in November, has been illuminating the United Academy while surfing the internet for amusement.

In his debut season with the United under-12s club, the gifted teenager scored an incredible 56 goals. He played alongside Cristiano Jr., the five-time Ballon d’Or winner. He has subsequently kept up his impressive play, even scoring the game-winning goal in the under-13 National Cup North final against rivals Manchester City.

The social media video that has United fans most excited, though, is a recent one in which Rooney is shown scoring goals from a variety of angles during a one-on-one practice. The young player shows off a variety of offensive skills, including long-range shots that gave the confused goalkeeper little chance to make a stop, thanks to @rhelitecoaching on TikTok.

One United supporter couldn’t contain their excitement upon seeing another Rooney prodigy showing off their skills, with @TenHagEra taking to X to say: “Can see Kai Rooney being a baller just like his dad..”

A bold prediction, but they weren’t alone. @Chilaz10 said: “If Kai has even half his fathers talent, we have a gem on our hands.”

Whereas @Josh034_ commented: “Genetics are crazy cause he strikes the ball just like his father.”

And @Sefaa_b said: “Love how he picks out the corners effortlessly….great first touches to set himself up though.”

Kai Rooney has seen an incredible ascent to fame, causing waves both on and off the field. Following his 52-goal season for the United youth squad in 2022, the rising star secured a large sponsorship agreement with the world’s largest apparel company, Puma.

Even though the Rooney name and United are fairly linked, Kai has been drawing interest from teams all throughout the nation. Wayne expressed his happiness when his son joined United for the second time in 2020. Wayne said: “I’m delighted for him. He did have other options, other clubs to go to but he decided he wants to sign for Manchester United, so it was his decision and not mine.”
