Man United ace turns down lucrative transfer in order to play in FA Cup final

In this day and age, any player turning down a lucrative opportunity in favour of playing for their current club in an FA Cup Final has to be applauded.

Even while the regular suspects are always present as the championship begins to take shape, some teams rarely manage to make it to the season’s culmination.

The men’s FA Cup final this year features Manchester United and Manchester City, marking the first time since the 1890s that the same teams have faced off in successive FA Cup finals.

Nikita Parris wants to play in the Women’s FA Cup Final

In the Women’s FA Cup Final, the Red Devils are playing Tottenham Hotspur, and Nikita Parris of the team has turned down a record-breaking contract to play for the Lilywhites.

The National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) team North Carolina Courage made a transfer bid for Parris, according to The Athletic (subscription needed).

Over the duration of the three-year contract, the transfer was reportedly going to earn her a cool £1 million.

Not even seven figures could have lured her away from the Red Devils, and with the signing window now closed, any potential renegotiation between the teams and Parris herself would have to wait until later in the summer.

That is always presuming that her services are still needed by the Courage.

They might adopt the stance of “once bitten, twice shy,” which would put United in a difficult situation given that Parris is growing older and her contract is about to expire.

They have the opportunity to think about giving her a one-year contract extension, but it looks like they won’t make any decisions until after the Tottenham match.
