Man Utd make first ‘crazy offer’ for Premier League star as they ‘surprise the football world’

Ivan Toney, a striker for Brentford, is reportedly at the top of Manchester United’s summer wishlist and they have made an offer for him.

After Sir Jim Ratcliffe finalized a deal earlier this year to purchase 27.7% of the Premier League club, there may be significant changes at Old Trafford over the summer.

After ten years of making bad decisions in that area, Ratcliffe and INEOS are resolved to make the proper hiring decisions in the summer and move forward.

Former Manchester City CEO Omar Berrada will take over as the team’s new CEO, and Southampton’s Jason Wilcox has already signed as technical director.

Ratcliffe is still attempting to finalize an agreement that would see Dan Ashworth take over as Manchester United’s new sporting director by moving from Newcastle to Old Trafford.

And it appears that they may have started their hiring spree already, since Spanish media state that they “surprised the football world” this summer by designating Brentford striker Toney as their “priority” target.

Man Utd has “presented an initial offer close to €70m to Brentford” and is “willing to make a significant investment to secure the services of the talented English striker.”

Man United may “have to look for other forms of negotiation to reduce the cost” if Brentford rejects the “first offer due to the discrepancy in the player’s value.”

In order to reach a deal that “allows” the striker to transfer to Old Trafford, the Red Devils and Brentford are “expected to continue talking in search of an agreement that satisfies both parties.”

Toney is rumored to be attracting interest from other teams, and Liverpool great John Barnes believes that an Arsenal or Chelsea transfer would be “best for” the England international.

Barnes said: “I think Arsenal or Chelsea would be the best move for Toney. Arsenal and Chelsea are the two sides most in need of a centre forward so they’ll be the best for him.

“Kai Havertz and Jesus have chipped in with goals but long term they will want a number nine. I think Ivan Toney would be perfect for Arsenal this summer even though Havertz has done so well to adapt to life at Arsenal.

“Jesus can still be a valuable member of the Arsenal squad if they bring in a nine because he can be a backup striker or play out wide.”
