Man Utd man ‘set to leave’ this summer despite Erik ten Hag ‘requesting the club renew his contract’

Manchester United are set to lose one of their coaches despite Erik ten Hag’s request.

Earlier in the month, it was reported that Dutchman Ten Hag will continue as United manager despite a poor 23/24 season.

United finished in a disappointing eighth place in the Premier League and saw their Champions League campaign come to a drastic halt at the group stage.

However, the Red Devils did end the season on a high when they beat Manchester City to win the FA Cup at Wembley last month.

Heading into the new campaign, it has been reported that United are set to lose first-team coach Benni McCarthy.

As reported by The Athletic, the former Blackburn Rovers, Ajax, Celta Vigo and FC Porto striker will leave his role when his two-year contract comes to a close at the end of this month.

The report stated: “It’s understood that the lifelong United fan wants to be a manager again. McCarthy had a positive relationship with many of the United players and enjoyed his time at Old Trafford.”

Earlier in the month, it was reported that one of Ten Hag’s requests was for the club to offer McCarthy a new deal.
