Man Utd ready to make ‘concrete’ move to sign £34m star in bargain summer deal – report

According to Tuttosport (via SportWitness), Manchester United are willing to make a concrete move to sign Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot on a free transfer.

The Mancunian giants have long been interested in signing the 29-year-old, and according to Tuttosport, they are back in the running because his Bianconeri contract expires at the end of June.

The source goes on to say that Man United is prepared to put further pressure on Rabiot to sign a new contract with Juventus because it is unclear who will manage the team in the upcoming campaign.

Rabiot is rumored to have to take a pay cut from his £6 million yearly compensation, even if he chooses to stay.

Possible deal

In the summer of 2022, United was chasing the Frenchman hard. Manager Erik ten Hag had his eye on the £34 million-rated star, but a move fell through after he turned down a contract offer that was made to his mother and agency.

The Red Devils are expected to make another attempt to sign the former Paris Saint-Germain player after two years. Rabiot has already expressed his desire to play in the Premier League, and he might be persuaded to sign with United this summer.

Given that they will not be participating in the Champions League next season, the Red Devils will probably be frugal with their spending. A free move would be ideal for them. In 2022, Christian Eriksen made an appearance in a comparable arrangement.

Throughout the current campaign, Eriksen has performed below par, and Rabiot may be considered as a potential successor. The Frenchman has a flair for contributing to goals and prefers to play in center midfield.

He would be a valuable addition to the United team, giving it additional depth and talent. Whether the club’s administration will accede to his wage demands remains to be known; during negotiations in 2022, they declined to give him a raise.
