Man Utd shellshocked as Man City ‘make contact’ with sublime Serie A star wanted by Ratcliffe

Manchester City are looking to bring in a new goalkeeper this summer and are reportedly considering a move for a Manchester United target.

Although Stefan Ortega, the Cityzens’ backup goalkeeper, has just a year left on his contract, Ederson, one of the best keepers in Europe, has suffered from injuries this season.

A young goalkeeper who can relieve Ederson and eventually make his way into the starting lineup is something Pep Guardiola is eager to add.

Man City has demonstrated in past transfer windows that they are not afraid to sign young players from overseas teams; two instances of this are Jeremy Doku and Josko Gvardiol.

Man City has’made contact’ with the representatives of Lazio striker Christos Mandas, who is also ‘on the radar of Man Utd,’ according to Italian publication Corriere dello Sport.

Last summer, the 22-year-old merely signed with Lazio. Thus far, he has made ten appearances for them, giving up just seven goals and maintaining five clean sheets.

Mandas might be a great long-term addition for Man City because he is only likely to get better with experience.

In the next transfer window, Man Utd is reportedly keen to buy a new goalkeeper and has expressed interest in Mandas.

Altay Bayindir is slated to leave Old Trafford in the upcoming months, and it is rumored that the Red Devils are searching for a replacement.

Nevertheless, it’s also important to note that Man Utd’s starting goalkeeper hasn’t played up to par, so upgrading him would be helpful.

This season, Onana has made a number of mistakes and has not lived up to the £47.2 million the Red Devils paid for him in the summer.

Additionally, Mantas would be a wonderful fit for Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s transfer strategy, which focuses on younger players with enormous potential.

Lazio, on the other hand, is eager to dispel the rumors surrounding Mandas and plans to “hold a meeting” “in the next few weeks” with his entourage to discuss a contract renewal.

In order to commit the young player until 2029, the Italian team intends to give him better terms for his salary as well as a one-year extension.

This offers Man City and Man United a chance to persuade the gifted goalkeeper to join them instead of signing a new contract at the Stadio Olimpico.
