Man Utd star throws strop at Erik ten Hag during Arsenal defeat

Manchester United star Antony was fuming with manager Erik ten Hag towards the end of the side’s 1-0 defeat to Arsenal after being asked to play at left-back for the final stages of the match.

The close defeat on Sunday at Old Trafford inflicted a serious blow to the Red Devils’ chances of winning European football, as they now sit in eighth position, three points outside of Europa Conference League qualification.

Once again, Ten Hag was shorthanded for this game, especially in defense, and in the 20th minute, Casemiro, filling in as center-back, gave Arsenal the opportunity to score the game’s winning goal.

As United attempted to play out from the back, the seasoned Brazilian took his time getting up and found himself 10 yards behind the other back players. This allowed Kai Havertz, who was unmarked, to come in, receive the ball, drive to the byline, and square it up for Leandro Trossard.

As United looked for a late equalizer, their improvised defense got even more bizarre as youthful Willy Kambwala partnered with Casemiro in the closing minutes and Antony switched to left-back.

But when Ten Hag asked the former Ajax winger to move places, he became enraged and was seen becoming combative.

In the 87th minute, the Dutch coach made the bold decision to substitute three players: Ethan Wheatley for Rasmus Hojlund, Christian Eriksen for Sofyan Amrabat, and Omari Forson for Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

With Wan-Bissaka off the pitch and an extra attacker on, Ten Hag switched Diogo Dalot back to his usual right-back role and asked Antony to leave the right flank and move to left-back, with Forson on the right wing.
