Manchester United tipped to make stunning signing of legendary centre-back – in a bid to fix leaky defence

A famous center-back is expected to join Manchester United this summer as the team looks to strengthen its weak defense.

Manchester United has given up an incredible 77 goals in 47 games across all competitions this season. This is obviously unacceptable for a team that aspires to higher levels of success, as they will not have reached the Champions League knockout stages or even finished fourth in the Premier League.

Lawrenson points out that Manchester United, who have played much of the last two seasons with Erik ten Hag using a four-at-the-back arrangement, would need to change their formation to make room for Thiago Silva.

Silva, 39, has been strongly connected to returning to his home Brazil after spending 15 years playing in Europe. He is expected to depart Chelsea in the summer when his contract expires. However, TNT Sports Brazil reports that the central defender, who has received bids from three Premier League teams, may stay in England for at least another season.
