Mason Greenwood’s stock continue to soar after latest development in impressive Getafe loan spell

Mason Greenwood, a Manchester United loanee, is a nominee for La Liga Team of the Season in EA Sports FC 24 after having a stellar season with Getafe at Estadio Coliseum.

It became evident last summer that Greenwood could not continue his career at Old Trafford, therefore he moved to Getafe.

Club executives, led by former CEO Richard Arnold, had tentatively intended to reintegrate him into the team; however, the Red Devils were forced to retract their plans after public outcry and harsh condemnation followed the disclosure of their scheme. Then, in an attempt to revive Greenwood’s flagging career, it was decided to transfer him to Spain.

Joe Bordalas has brought out the best in the Englishman. Greenwood has scored eight goals and provided six assists in 28 appearances in the top division.

In all tournaments, the Carrington Academy alumnus has scored 10 goals. When it comes to La Liga goal contributions, he is in the 92nd percentile.

It is not surprise that a few elite clubs in Europe are interested in signing Greenwood and providing him with a long-term home, given his achievements.

The gifted football player is reportedly admired by teams like Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, and Juventus. Getafe is eager to keep him longer with them as well, but competitors with bigger budgets are probably going to charge more to move him permanently.

United wants to pay between £30-£40 million for the 22-year-old, and if their valuation is not met, a return to the Theatre of Dreams is possible, according to a recent article that The Peoples Person published.

Greenwood is one of 19 strikers who could be selected for the La Liga Team of the Season based on their nominations.

Alongside him on the list are celebrities like Jude Bellingham, Rodrygo Goes, and Vinicius Junior of Real Madrid. Artem Dovbyk of Girona, who leads the division in goals scored with 19, is also a candidate for a spot in the starting lineup.

Greenwood is also one of three Getafe players to receive a Team of the Season nomination, alongside teammates Diego Rico and Borja Mayoral.

Voting is open until May 5.

The next assignment for Greenwood and Getafe is Athletic Club on Friday, as they aim to close the gap on Real Sociedad and attain European qualification.
