‘MYSTERIOUS GIFT’: Ivan Toney ‘looking to earn more than CAPTAIN Bruno Fernandes to boost Man Utd transfer as wage demands revealed’

Toney has been heavily linked with a move away from Brentford, with previous reports speculating that Arsenal were frontrunners.

However, given their disastrous goal-scoring campaign, United has emerged as possible dark horses in the hunt to recruit him.

The combination of Brentford’s cost and Toney’s anticipated salary, which are reportedly in the neighborhood of £250k per week, presents a challenge for many contenders.

This figure, which comes to £13 million annually, is another reason Brentford isn’t in the running for an extension.

Toney would make £10k more a week than the Red Devils’ captain Fernandes if he signed on at his proposed salary.

Despite playing little this season, Mason Mount and Anthony Martial are currently paid the £250,000 per week salary.

Despite finishing seventh in the rankings, United has the fourth biggest wage bill in the Premier League and is no stranger to overpaying players.

Toney would actually be more valuable than the other players on the club if he scored goals for United.

If United’s intentions for a mass departure this summer come to fruition, they might save millions in salary, as Casemiro, Raphael Varane, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and Jadon Sancho are all expected to depart the team.

It was widely reported last week that the Bees had reduced their asking price from £100 million to £40 million.

However, following Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Sheffield United by Brentford, manager Thomas Frank later refuted this.
