Official offer from Manchester United expected to arrive quickly – Would be signing of the summer

We reported on April 15th on Portuguese rumors that Manchester United is among the teams in the picture to capture João Neves, a top player for Benfica, during the summer transfer window.

The Red Devils’ interest can be seen on the top page of today’s Record, where it says in capital letters, “United advance for João Neves.”

According to the source, Manchester United has been tracking Neves and his teammate António Silva for a few months and is now concentrating more on the midfield player.

This is a result of Casemiro’s exclusion from INEOS’ Old Trafford project, which has left the Premier League team searching for a replacement midfield player.

The Portugal international Casemiro, 32, has been designated as Manchester United’s “priority to rejuvenate” midfield player. Casemiro is anticipated to depart after this season.

Although Erik ten Hag’s team hasn’t made an official offer to the Eagles for Neves as of yet, the publication predicts that “this will be a reality in the short term,” which suggests that they will submit a bid shortly.

It is unclear if they will submit a request for the midfield player alone or for the Benfica pair.

According to recent reports, Ten Hag’s future is still unknown. Despite this, Neves has been identified as the top target by Manchester United’s executives, who don’t want to waste any more time assembling a competitive squad for the upcoming campaign.

Benfica, meanwhile, would like to profit from Silva’s departure during the summer transfer window and is eager to keep Neves for one more season.

It seems that Manchester United has a real and tangible interest in João Neves. Benfica is sensitive about it; in fact, they made an official statement earlier this year claiming that the Red Devils had not yet gotten a priority deal to sign him.

It is important to note that this was highly unusual and indicates that the Lisbon club is aware of the interest. Though it might be beneficial for the player himself, Benfica’s desire to hold onto João Neves for one another season may be put to the test.
