Rashford sold, five signed: Manchester United XI next season if they sell majority of squad – gallery

With Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s financing, Manchester United will have a very busy summer as the Ineos Group looks to build a name for itself.

In addition to several changes off the field, United is aiming to make record-breaking player sales in order to restructure the team and usher in a new era of prosperity.

The bulk of United’s first team players may be permitted to depart, according to reports this week. However, it is more easier said than done because they would also need to locate suitable replacements.

With that in mind, we have taken a look at how United could line up next season with five new signings in their starting line up, with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Casemiro and Raphael Varane all moved on.

Let us know what signings you’d love to see United make in the comments section below…

1. GK – Andre Onana

He’s improved as the season has gone on and deserves to keep his starting spot going forward.

2. RB – Jeremie Frimpong

This would be a huge statement of intent. Frimpong is arguably the hottest right-back in the world right now and it would be a real coup to sign him.

3. CB – Jean-Clair Todibo

United are looking at two centre-backs this summer and it would make sense if Todibo were one of them. You’d like to think it would be relatively straightforward to get him from Nice.

4. CB – Jarrad Branthwaite

The Everton defender looks destined for a big move at some point, but his price-tag might rule him out this summer. Branthwaite would be a fine addition, but only if Lisandro Martinez’s injury issues don’t clear up.

5. LB – Luke Shaw

United have to sign cover for Shaw this summer, but when fit he is still arguably the best left-back in the Premier League.

6. CDM – Morten Hjulmand

Here’s your wildcard option. Hjulmand has excelled at Sporting Lisbon this season and could be an ideal long-term option in defensive midfield.

7. CM – Kobbie Mainoo

United have to build their team around Mainoo and it would be great to see what he can do playing in front of a reliable defensive midfielder.

8. CM – Bruno Fernandes

There have been reports linking Fernandes with a move away at the end of the season, but the club captain is still the catalyst of this team and should stay.

9. RW – Pedro Neto

United want to add at least one forward this summer and if they sell Marcus Rashford (which is unlikely) then a right winger would be a good idea. The Wolves forward has a lot to offer and would be a sensible addition.

10. LW – Alejandro Garnacho

Another player United must build the team around. Garnacho has proven he has the talent to start every week and could take his game even higher if allowed to make the left wing his own.

11. ST – Rasmus Hojlund

United also have to sign back-up to help Hojlund this summer, but he has shown enough this season for them to stick with him from the start.
