Rasmus Hojlund didn’t hesitate when asked about Erik ten Hag staying at Manchester United

Rasmus Hojlund has given his thoughts on Manchester United’s decision to keep Erik ten Hag as manager ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

Ten Hag has come under intense scrutiny over the past few months after United recorded their lowest-ever Premier League finish.

Having secured Champions League football during his debut campaign in charge, the Dutchman would have been encouraged by the progress made.

But after a lacklustre 2023/24 campaign, it looked like Ten Hag’s time at Old Trafford was all but over until the afternoon of May 25, when United recorded a surprise victory over Manchester City in the FA Cup final.

It was not only a real confidence-booster for Ten Hag, but it appears Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his team were won over by the performance.

Two-and-a-half weeks after the victory at Wembley, it emerged that Ten Hag would remain in charge following an end-of-season review.

United engaged in talks with other managers ahead of potentially replacing the Dutchman, including Mauricio Pochettino and Thomas Tuchel.

But the review saw him keep his job, with a new contract close to being finalised, according to Fabrizio Romano.

As an official announcement looks imminent, Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund has reacted to the news.

When asked to give his thoughts on the decision to keep Ten Hag by Sky reporter Florian Plettenberg, the Dane said: “Very happy. He’s a very good coach and I’ve loved working with him this year.”

Hojlund, a £72 million signing from Serie A side Atalanta, ended the 2023/24 campaign as United’s top scorer with 16 goals in all competitions.

The Denmark international was also asked about his ambitions for the coming season. “I want to become even better and score even more goals,” he said. “Hopefully we can win another trophy.”
