Report – Man Utd hold talks to finally sign £85million star

Man Utd has had its eye on Antonio Silva for a while, and according to the most recent sources, negotiations are currently underway to ultimately sign him.

Jornal de Noticias disclosed in October of last year that the Red Devils were preparing a competitive offer to entice the central defence from Benfica.

O Jogo stated in December 2023 that Man Utd would be prepared to exercise the £85 million release clause in order to capture Silva.

Another well-known Portuguese outlet, Record, stated earlier this month that the Seleccao star may be moving to Old Trafford.

More recently, Man Utd has held talks to eventually capture Antonio Silva from the Eagles, according to an exclusive scoop carried by Caught Offside.

Even teams who can guarantee CL football, like Arsenal and Liverpool, have contacted the 20-year-old centre defender in an attempt to entice him.

Although PSG and Real Madrid are also interested, the player would really like to join a big Premier League team. According to reports, most clubs would not be willing to pay the £85 million clause to sign him.

Silva helped Benfica retain 15 clean sheets in the just finished Liga Nos campaign, appearing in 30 games. Roberto Martinez has named the young player, who has made nine appearances for the senior national team thus far, in Portugal’s Euro 2024 roster.

Man Utd desperately need to strengthen things at the back. Should they splash £85million to sign Antonio Silva?
