Report: Man Utd in pole position to sign “superstar” forward who’s “way better than Antony”

According to ESPN’s James Olley, Manchester United is in the lead in the competition to sign Crystal Palace prospect Michael Olise this summer.

In order to rebuild his team in time for the start of the upcoming season, Erik ten Hag has the Red Devils organizing a major roster makeover in the upcoming months.

Since joining Palace from Reading in 2021, Olise—whom Clinton Morrison has referred to as a “superstar” and stated he’s “way better than Antony”—has been one of the team’s finest players. He may advance in his career during the upcoming transfer window.

Olise Could United Cost up to £60m

Palace aren’t willing to let him go cheap

Olley claims that although it was previously believed that Palace would ask for roughly £35 million in exchange for the elusive winger’s services, that amount is now understood to be much higher.

In August of last year, Olise signed a new four-year contract with the Eagles. It is said that the contract has a release clause worth up to £60 million, which kicks in at the end of the current campaign.

Originally scheduled to make a move for the 22-year-old in January, United decided to postpone their plans and are now in a strong position to secure the services of the former Chelsea youth prospect.

Although Ten Hag’s team is unable to provide Champions League football, they are still optimistic that Olise will arrive at Old Trafford before to the commencement of the new campaign.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka Could be Offered to Palace

The 26-year-old could return to his former club

The Red Devils are expected to have a busy transfer window since, according to rumors, they are prepared to offload the great bulk of their existing roster.

As the club looks to assemble a new team around its young prospects, only three players—Kobbie Mainoo, Rasmus Hojlund, and Alejandro Garncaho—look set to be at Old Trafford next season.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is one of the players that will be available and may be engaged in a possible deal to bring Olise to United. 2019 saw Wan-Bissaka leave Palace for Manchester for a reported £45 million (later increased to £50 million).

The 26-year-old has since played 185 games with the Red Devils, tallying 13 assists and two goals.

The defender could be open to a return to his former club, where he progressed through the youth system from the age of 11 until he left at 22.

United Face Stiff Competition For Olise’s Signature

Several Premier League rivals are also in the race

Even though United is currently dominating the race, teams like Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool will probably give them fierce fight.

Olise may return to either of his old teams because he played for both Chelsea and the Gunners in his youth.

Before the season began, the winger was on the verge of joining the Blues as Chelsea thought they had activated Olise’s £35 million release clause. Nevertheless, the transaction fell through.

Given the recent changes on Merseyside and the uncertainty surrounding Mohamed Salah’s future, the Reds may also be looking for a right-sided attacker this summer.

Olise could serve as the perfect long-term replacement for the Egyptian, with his direct dribbling and accurate left-foot. Manchester City have also been strongly linked with Olise in the past and are another rival United may have to fight off.
