Report: Manchester Utd want to make ‘world-class’ Euro 2024 star their ‘marquee’ signing; would cost £68m

Manchester United want to make a marquee signing this summer and could now go for a player set to light up Euro 2024.

Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS are under pressure to bolster the first team roster this summer by adding some fresh talent and demonstrating their seriousness about the matter.

Many players have already been connected to transfers to Old Trafford.

But at the moment, United is really thinking about making an offer for one of England’s jewels.

Manchester United want to bring Eberechi Eze to Old Trafford

The Sun reports that United is putting themselves in the running to recruit Crystal Palace’s Eze this summer.

Eze outperformed players like James Maddison and Jack Grealish to gain a spot in the England Euros squad after yet another brilliant season with Palace.

At the club level, though, his future is still unknown, and it’s rumoured that United would now seek to recruit Eze as their “marquee” signing through INEOS.

Spurs are reportedly dominating the race after entertaining Eze and his family the previous season, and they are also highly keen to sign the England player.

Tottenham are also very keen on signing the England man and it’s even suggested that Spurs are currently leading the race after hosting Eze and his family last season.

Eze has a release-clause at Palace that’s thought to be worth £68m all-in when add-ons have been included.

World-class Eze can shine for United

Without a doubt, Ebere Eze has to leave Palace and move on to the next phase of his career.

That entails competing for a team like United, where the expectations and pressure are drastically altered. But Eze can manage it.

Joe Cole recently said that he believes Eze to be a “world-class” operator, and he has been praised the entire season.

“He is one of the players in the Premier League who I love watching. He is so balanced, he brings the ball, he goes both ways, and again, he is one of them great players, when you have a world-class player, the game calms around him. He takes his time,” Cole said.

Eze, then, could well be the midfielder Old Trafford needs to get them off their feet and excited.
