‘Secured’: Club think their manager snubbed new contract because he’s already got the Man United job – journalist

One of the biggest clubs in the world are convinced that their manager is going to replace Erik ten Hag at Manchester United.

It is anticipated that the Dutchman would be fired after the FA Cup final at Wembley against Manchester City. Regardless of the outcome, he will reportedly be let go from Manchester United (Guardian).

The Red Devils will need to find a replacement if Ten Hag does decide to depart, and they have recently been connected to a number of names.

Here’s what’s new with one of them.

What Bayern Munich think has happened between Thomas Tuchel and Manchester United

The official announcement of Thomas Tuchel’s departure from Bayern Munich has been made.

The German powerhouses had previously said months ago that their manager will leave at the end of the current season, but Bayern has since changed its mind.

The Bavarians attempted to persuade Tuchel to stay longer at the team after missing out on players like Xabi Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann, and even Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner.

The 50-year-old, however, chose to turn down the club’s offer after speaking with their executives, and he will be departing on June 30, 2024.

Christian Falk of BILD has now provided an update on Tuchel.

The German journalist has revealed that Bayern Munich’s board are convinced Tuchel snubbed a new contract at the Allianz Arena because he has already secured the Manchester United job.

The former Chelsea boss has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford to replace Erik ten Hag this summer.

Falk tweeted: “The board of FC Bayern is convinced: Thomas Tuchel let the negotiations for a new contract in Munich collapse because he already has the job at Manchester United secured.”

Three other managers in contention for the Manchester United job

Many managers would be keen to replace Erik ten Hag at Manchester United, one of the biggest clubs in the world.

Though he isn’t the only person connected to them, Thomas Tuchel is undoubtedly the most well-known.

Manchester United is reportedly keeping an eye on Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna as well as Brentford’s Thomas Frank.

Unexpectedly, Mauricio Pochettino—who departed Chelsea on Tuesday—has surfaced as a contender to take over as Manchester United’s manager going forward (The Times).

If INEOS decides to fire Ten Hag following the FA Cup final, only time will tell who they choose to appoint.
