Thomas Tuchel could sign four former players to get gang back together at Man Utd

Should Erik ten Hag be fired by Manchester United at the end of the current campaign, Thomas Tuchel has surfaced as a possible successor. Even if he leads Bayern Munich to their eighth Champions League title, the German coach will still be available as the team has announced that he will be leaving this summer.

The football hierarchy at Old Trafford will have a new face, and whoever is in charge there next season will have a different transfer policy.

Four of Tuchel’s old teammates are examined by Express Sport as potential additions to United in the event that Sir Jim Ratcliffe permits a Premier League comeback.

Andreas Christensen

Speaking of Premier League comebacks, if Tuchel is fired, Andreas Christensen could be keen to work with him again.

With Christensen’s play at Barcelona this season being less than ideal, United and Newcastle United reportedly expressed a serious interest in the Danish center defender in January.

If Xavi stays manager past the summer, he might be tempted to take on a new assignment. He participated in 53 matches under Tuchel at Chelsea, where they won the Champions League.

This summer, United will make a new center-back signing, and the 28-year-old might be a viable choice.

Adrien Rabiot

Since Erik ten Hag’s first summer transfer window in 2022, when negotiations for a free transfer broke down due to Adrien Rabiot’s demands, the player has been strongly linked to United.

Although the 29-year-old has had a fantastic season at Juventus, his contract is about to expire once more, so if he decides to go, he might be a good deal.

Rabiot made 20 appearances for Tuchel at Paris Saint-Germain, so it wouldn’t be shocking if he continued to be linked this summer.

Given the unclear futures of Christian Eriksen and Casemiro, United is anticipated to look for a new midfield player.

Ross Barkley

When Ross Barkley returned to the Premier League in February, there were rumors that he might make a surprise summer transfer to United after making an impression at Luton Town.

According to reports, Ratcliffe is eager to get him to Old Trafford. He previously worked with Tuchel, another goal the 71-year-old co-owner had in mind.

Barkley played for Chelsea for 14 games under Tuchel’s tutelage, winning the Club World Cup in the process.

It goes without saying that he would be interested in joining United this summer, and the chance to work with his old employer again would make it more alluring.

Xavi Simons

When Xavi Simons was a youthful prospect at PSG under Tuchel’s leadership, he never really touched the field.

However, prior to signing RB Leipzig last summer, he was allegedly on United’s shortlist for attacking reinforcements and included in two squads.

While the Red Devils have struggled to score goals this season, Simons has contributed nine goals and fifteen assists in 42 games.

It is alleged that Michael Olise was considered as Ten Hag’s top choice to strengthen his wing options. However, the 21-year-old Dutchman might present an even more alluring opportunity.
