Man United ‘are preparing a bid for £105M-rated Casemiro replacement’

According to sources, Manchester United is getting ready to make an initial bid for a player they have targeted to replace Casemiro.

Brazilian sensation Casemiro shocked everyone by leaving Real Madrid in the summer of 2022 to join the Old Trafford team for a reported £60 million. His earnings at the Red Devils are believed to be approximately £375,000.

Even though he helped the Manchester United team win the Carabao Cup during his first stint there, his 2023–24 performances have been well below his peak.

Throughout the season, he has been connected to a move to Saudi Arabia; however, after a particularly dismal performance against Crystal Palace on Monday, the demands intensified, with Jamie Carragher even proposing he put up his boots.

Because of this, and because new owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe will be in charge of a much-needed team makeover, United is expected to submit a first bid for a wonderkid in midfield who has already been linked to the team.

Portuguese publication According to records, United is getting ready to put Benfica’s highly-regarded midfield player Joao Neves to the test.

The young Portuguese talent has a clause for £105 million, which is the amount Benfica paid Chelsea for Enzo Fernandez in January 2023. However, it’s likely that United will try to talk them into selling for less money.

Ironically, Fernandez was the player that Neves replaced in the starting lineup sixteen months prior. Nevertheless, the 19-year-old has maintained that position ever since and is a cornerstone of Roger Schimdt’s team.

Antonio Silva is another possible target for United that the Lisbon-based team has.

Along with Neves, the center back traveled to Qatar for the 2022 World Cup with Portugal. He has since received a great deal of praise and is rumored to be on the shortlist of many of Europe’s top teams for the upcoming season.

Though midfielder Neves is reportedly more of a priority for United, Record notes that the Premier League team has been keeping a close eye on both players for a number of months.

Neves and rising teenage talent Kobbie Mainoo might team up at United, giving the Red Devils a midfield core that they could play with for a decade or more.

In March 2023, at the age of 18, Neves made his Champions League debut by assisting on Club Brugge’s sixth goal.

Scouts and his fellow countrymen started to take notice of him after he won the title of Primeira Liga midfielder of the month four times in a row, from September to December.

After coming off the bench for the Quinas in a 5-0 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina in October, these performances earned him a well-earned call-up to the national team. Since then, he has earned four additional caps.

Many celebrities praised him for his maturity and technical skill; Bruno Fernandes said of him: “He is an excellent player and an excellent kid.” No matter where he goes, he will have a good future.’

However, Neves signed a six-year contract with Benfica back in December 2022, so even if Manchester United were to trigger his contract, they would need to do everything in their power to persuade the teenager to make a move.
