United handed shock injury boost ahead of Premier League finale and FA Cup final

Anthony Martial, a forward, is back in training, which may have given Manchester United an unexpected injury boost before the final two games of the season.

The Frenchman underwent groin surgery in December, and since then, he has not played for United. He is in a race against the clock to win the race and make a return before the season ends, but it appears he has made a significant advancement in that regard.

As he expedited his recuperation, Erik ten Hag disclosed at the beginning of the month that he was back in partial training. Martial appears to have trained with his teammates in advance of Brighton & Hove Albion, the season’s last match.

Images from United’s official website show the striker participating in training as well as strolling out onto the training field with Rasmus Hojlund. It appears that this will be his last game as a United player if he is able to participate in either the FA Cup final against Man City or the match against Brighton.

Martial’s nine-year tenure at Old Trafford appears destined to end when his contract expires in the summer. Following Wednesday night’s 3-2 victory over Newcastle United, the attacker was spotted waving good-bye to the United supporters.

He has had a number of injury problems over the last three seasons causing him to miss several games. That led to former United captain Roy Keane remarking that United cannot rely on injury-prone players.

“If you are constantly injured, you are no good to anybody. OK, every club will have its few injuries,” he said. “But there are certain players in that group there you are going ‘they are always injured’. You can’t rely on these players to turn up week in and week out and play for Man United.”
