United see 3 time Champions League winning goalkeeper as “attractive” option this summer – report

Keylor Navas, the goalkeeper who won the Champions League, is available for free when he departs Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the current campaign. Manchester United is interested in signing him.

When longtime employees David de Gea and Dean Henderson left United in the summer, the goalkeeping position saw a significant upheaval.

On the other hand, the Cameroonian has made 48 appearances for the team despite playing consistently.

His season has been crazy at times, though, as evidenced by his performance in the Champions League and his outstanding stop that earned him the Premier League Save of the Month award in April.

There have been several rumors that the team may try to upgrade the keeping position at the end of the season due to the player’s inconsistent play.

Furthermore, Bayindir is supposedly seeking for a summer exit and is naturally dissatisfied with the amount of game time he has received this season.

United has been connected to a number of keepers as a result, including Ivan Provedel and Christos Mandas of Lazio.

This summer, Spanish publication Fichajes added a well-known but elderly name to strengthen the goalkeeping unit.

It is said that “Manchester United have launched a surprise move in the transfer market by expressing interest in former Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas, who is currently at Paris Saint-Germain and is set to depart as a free agent at the end of the season.”

United see the keeper as an “attractive” option despite his relegation to the bench at the French club due to the arrival of Gianluigi Donnarumma in 2021.

“With his contract coming to an end, several clubs are interested in acquiring his services, and Manchester United have joined the list of suitors.”

“United see Navas as a solution to their problems in goal, especially considering André Onana’s inconsistent performance since his arrival at the club. With Navas’ experience and quality, United believe he could be a solid addition to compete for a place in the starting lineup.”

Supporters will recall that the player came dangerously close to joining the team in the summer of 2015 when he was traded for David de Gea by Real Madrid; however, the transaction was ultimately derailed by a broken fax machine.

Due to his loan stint at Nottingham Forest during the second half of the previous season, the Costa Rican has prior Premier League experience.

It may be a nice option to replace Onana if the keeper were to enter as a backup and not be paid excessively, as it would offer the Cameroonian international hope that the team is still interested in him.

The 37 year old has been described as “humble and hardworking” and has a good pedigree, as he was a finalist in the 2017 Fifa Best Goalkeeper category, as well as winning three Champions League titles whilst at Real Madrid.
