Vincent Kompany reportedly wants Bayern Munich to sign 29-year-old Manchester United talisman Bruno Fernandes in the summer transfer window.

Bayern Munich is reportedly interested in Bruno Fernandes, according to a report by the Spanish publication Fichajes. The Manchester United captain is being pursued by the Bundesliga team, led by Vincent Kompany. The recently hired manager is eager to have the 29-year-old in his squad for the 2024–2025 campaign.

The rise and rise of Bruno Fernandes

Once Bruno Fernandes moved from Sporting CP to Manchester United in January 2020, he quickly established himself as one of the league’s top performers. The Portuguese international quickly established himself as a key player for the Premier League team and has helped them through their darkest moments.

Despite having a poor 2023–24 season, the 29-year-old was outstanding, recording 15 goals and 13 assists in 48 games across all competitions. Ahead of the 2023–24 campaign, Fernandes was named Manchester United’s captain, and he lived up to the title the entire campaign.

On July 1, though, the Manchester United captain’s contract will expire, and potential suitors are sensing blood. The former captain of Sporting CP has been linked to prestigious teams like Bayern Munich and Barcelona in recent reports. Saudi Pro League teams are reportedly interested in signing him.

Vincent Kompany wants Fernandes

It makes sense that Bayern Munich would be interested in Bruno Fernandes. After placing third in the German top division this year, the Bavarian powerhouses are keen to recruit players who can elevate their team to the pinnacle of the Bundesliga. Thus, Die Roten now have a realistic chance to target the captain of Manchester United.

Bruno Fernandes’s deal to Bayern Munich is being spearheaded by newly recruited manager Vincent Kompany during the summer transfer window. At the Allianz Stadium, the 29-year-old Manchester United star may eventually replace Thomas Muller. A summer move, though, is not likely to happen.

Widespread reports have claimed that Manchester United will not entertain any offers to sell the Portuguese international in the summer transfer window. While the 29-year-old is open to all possibilities, he would prefer to remain at Old Trafford. So, a move to Bayern Munich will unlikely materialise.
