“Wants to return” – Fabrizio Romano claims “outstanding” manager is now “ready” for Man Utd job

Fabrizio Romano exclusively told GIVEMESPORT that Mauricio Pochettino, the former manager of Chelsea, would be “more than ready” if Manchester United decided to pursue the out-of-work Argentine, but he acknowledged that the club’s top priority is to notify Erik ten Hag of any decision that is made.

The Dutchman, who has won trophies in back-to-back seasons at Old Trafford, sees his position in shambles after leading the three-time Champions League winners to eighth place, the team’s worst-ever Premier League finish.

Man Utd: Mauricio Pochettino Latest

Argentine still out of work after Chelsea exit

Ten Hag may not be able to stay as the team’s manager despite defeating Manchester City 2-1 in the most recent FA Cup final and adding to his 2022–2023 Carabao Cup victory. Sir Jim Ratcliffe and company will make sure to carefully consider all of the possible candidates before making a decision.

Former custodian Paul Robinson urged the club’s boardroom bosses to fire Ten Hag and bring in Pochettino right away. The bosses are currently conducting a comprehensive internal evaluation of the former Ajax player’s future and considering major roster adjustments.

Ten Hag will be anxiously awaiting word on whether he will be the man tasked with leading the esteemed club into the 2024–2025 season, which will feature Europa League activity due to their victory at Wembley, despite the fact that it is currently the off-season.

Ever since leaving his position in west London, rumours about Pochettino have circulated, and Chelsea’s previous manager Thomas Tuchel has been connected to one of the most demanding positions in English football. Meanwhile, Manchester United has reportedly held “new talks” with Ten Hag.

Romano: Pochettino ‘More Than Ready’ for Man Utd Job

‘He wants to return as soon as possible’

On Manchester United’s current state of affairs, Romano suggested that, after parting ways with Chelsea, Pochettino, who has been labelled an ‘outstanding’ manager by Eddie Howe, doesn’t need time away from management. Insisting he’s ‘more than ready’ to take over from Ten Hag, the Italian journalist did suggest that Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Co’s priority will be to inform the Dutchman of his future.

“Mauricio Pochettino is another coach who doesn’t feel he needs to take some time before the next step. He wants to return as soon as possible. So I’m sure in case Manchester United decided to go for him, he would be more than ready to restart and to be back in the business immediately.

“But again, at the moment, the priority for Manchester United is to decide on Erik ten Hag, inform Ten Hag, and then eventually to go for another coach.”

Omari Forson Offered New Man Utd Contract

He could reject the fresh terms

Omari Forson was named on Manchester United’s “retained list” on Wednesday afternoon, in advance of the crucial summer transfer window. The club has extended a contract offer to Forson. Romano had earlier announced on X (now Twitter) that Forson was expected to sign a free agency contract in June and leave Manchester United because he had received little to no playing time under Ten Hag.

During the 2023–24 season, the 19-year-old from London was a consistent presence on Manchester United’s bench for Premier League games, particularly as the season was coming to a finish. However, he only received 68 minutes in four appearances. In response to the latest information, Romano stated that Forson’s position is still undetermined and that he will be leaving the team this summer.
