Done Deal: Man United finally confirms the signing of 23-years Old superstar as star arrives for unveiling

After the signings of Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui, Manchester United’s full attention has been on signing a new midfielder.

Sander Berge was linked, though a move didn’t come to fruition with the man from Norway heading to Fulham instead. As a result, it left Manuel Ugarte as the standalone number one target for Erik ten Hag.

The Uruguay international has been heavily linked with a switch to the Theatre of Dreams this summer and over the last 24 hours, Florian Plettenberg has provided an update on that front.

According to his latest information, United are now in ‘advanced negotiations’ over the signing of the 23-year-old midfielder, with the Reds and PSG now ‘getting closer’ to agreeing a deal.

It could be a permanent move, or a loan with an obligation to buy. Plettenberg stresses that it’s not a done deal as of yet, though a verbal agreement with the player is already in place.

It feels like a difference in transfer valuation of Ugarte is what has led to this move being dragged out. United want to pay as little as possible, while PSG are yet to budge on their £51m asking price.

Ugarte, a defensive midfielder by trade, will be brought in to help out when Casemiro needs a rest or is struggling for form.

Despite only being at PSG for a year, Ugarte is now ready to move away from France and he certainly seems keen on a move to Old Trafford this summer.

It does look like this deal is progressing well.
