Footage of the Anfield pitch has emerged ahead of Sunday afternoon’s clash between Liverpool and Manchester United following snowy conditions in Merseyside.
Liverpool’s home tie against United is scheduled to kick off at 4.30pm but after heavy snow and freezing rain overnight, the Premier League fixture is under threat of postponement.
In fact, a Safety Advisory Group reviewed the situation at 9am on Sunday morning to determine whether or not it was safe to go ahead, and a decision was deferred until 11:45am.
Liverpool released a statement at 9:31am to confirm that at this stage, the match is planned to go ahead as normal.
“Every effort is being made to get the game on,” the statement added. “A further safety meeting will take place again at midday to assess the latest conditions.”
