Man Utd ‘decide on Darren Fletcher’s future’ after axing Ruud van Nistelrooy

Darren Fletcher will not be following Ruud van Nistelrooy out of Manchester United for the foreseeable future, according to reports. A number of coaches have left Old Trafford following Ruben Amorim‘s arrival, with the former Sporting boss appointing his own staff.

Carlos Fernandes, Adelio Candido, Paulo Barreira, Emanuel Ferro and Jorge Vital were all seen boarding a private jet with Amorim as he flew to England on Monday. It leaves no room for Van Nistelrooy, who has departed following the end of his interim spell in charge

Rene Hake, Pieter Morel and Jelle ten Rouwelaar have also left the club but Fletcher’s job is reportedly safe for the time being. He will remain at United in a coaching capacity to provide a link between the academy and the senior squad, according to BBC Sport.

Fletcher will not be on the touchline for Amorim’s first game in charge of United after being handed a three-game ban by the FA. He was also fined £7,500 after furiously remonstrating with match officials during last month’s victory over Brentford.

The incident took place after Brentford scored while Matthijs de Ligt was off the field receiving treatment for a head injury. Erik ten Hag and Van Nistelrooy were shown yellow cards but Fletcher went a step further by confronting the officials at half-time.
