Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund has penned an emotional statement after Denmark crashed out of Euro 2024 with a 2-0 defeat against Germany on Saturday night. Denmark fell short against the host nation in Dortmund as Hojlund continued his goal drought in his first European Championships.
The Danes ran Germany close and were harshly disallowed an opening goal after a toe was offside in the build-up to Joachim Andersen’s second-half strike.
Just moments later, more VAR drama worsened the blow after a point-blank cross hit Andersen’s hand, leading to a 53rd-minute penalty.
Kai Havertz beat Kasper Schmeichel from the spot before Jamal Musiala produced a moment of individual brilliance 15 minutes later for his third goal of the tournament.
