Manchester United release seven players

Man Utd have released their retained list at the end of the 2023/24 season.

Seven players have been released by Manchester United after the 2023–24 season.

Seven players will depart Old Trafford when their contracts expire at the end of the month, the club disclosed when they posted their retained list on Wednesday morning.

Anthony Martial and Raphael Varane’s departure from the team upon the expiration of their present contracts had previously been confirmed.

Brandon Williams, who chose not to exercise his option for a one-year contract extension, will also be leaving the team.

Omari Forson, a young player, has received a new contract offer from United, although it is anticipated that he will go this summer after not making much headway in contract negotiations this season.

After his contract expires, Charlie McNeill will also depart the team, and academy players Marcus Lawrence and Kie Plumley will also leave at the end of their current contracts.

Tom Huddlestone, the player-coach of the Under-21 team, has announced his departure from the position after serving for two seasons.

Talks about possible new contracts between Tom Heaton and Jonny Evans are still ongoing at United, but the outcome may rely on the managerial choice made after the end-of-season evaluation. They are also discussing a possible new agreement with Shola Shoretire.

Heaton has made just three competitive appearances since he joined United as a free agent three years ago, while Evans made 30 appearances across all competitions, having initially been invited back to his former club as he looked to keep his fitness levels up following his release by Leicester a year ago.
